I had a really nice ride after work today. 32 Miles. No biggie. But it rained earlier today and was overcast until about 5pm and after that it was nice. I had the trail nearly all to myself which surprised me, maybe everyone thought it would rain all evening. It didn't and I enjoyed a quiet, "early Spring" type of ride. I love it! And I notice that I feel so much better climbing, it is really amazing how subtle the change is and how "slow" it seems to happen. I just notice that I get further and further up the hill before I struggle and have to go to my low gears. I use less of them each time. When I stand on my pedals and climb I feel really strong. I can feel very non-ladylike Eric Heiden'ish legs beneath me propelling me up the hill. It's kind of cool. Soon it wont be a struggle at all -on the hills I train on now- and I will have to seek out bigger, greater vertical challenges. Yeah, that's it. Bwah haa hhaa!!!
This picture is of Janice and I after ALC3 in 2004. This was in LA after completing 585 miles! I was whipped, feeling loopy and happy and Martha handed me a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (which was disguised as a "Coke") and I was even more happy. I have helmet hair. Janice looks cute and shy. In this picture I was talking to Coleen and Monica who are past and present ALC supporters!
