This is part of a training ride that I do a lot lately. Between the green highlighted area's is about 3 miles and a difference of just over +300 feet elevation. It's considered a very easy climb. But there was a time I had to walk my bike up the last half mile. Now I feel much better. It's still not "easy" but I don't walk so that is cool. I do see what appear to be very seasoned guys and gals power up the hill but you can tell it takes effort. So I don't feel bad when I'm in the low gears steady but slow up the hill. :-) I've done this "up/down 3 mile routine" up to 4 times in a ride in which I'm also tagging on 15 miles to get there and 15 miles to get home. So I'm hoping this self imposed climbing will help me on Quadbuster!!! Sometimes, like this afternoon, I do the very last mile only, up and down. I drove there after work with my bike and I did that last mile 10 times for 20 miles. The distance is not important, the climb is. And the last mile is the toughest so that is why I do it. There are campers at Folsom Lake that probably think I'm insane. I see their tents and picnic tables and they have a full on view of me climbing and then screaming down the hill and back up again. I go 30 mph down and about 10 mph up! Huffin and Puffin... I really love the trail and the lake. (I would love to camp there sometime with Judy and Doug and the gang. Kayaking on the lake (Folsom or Natoma) and biking on the trail in between!) :-)
