Arizona

Finally a chance to update to my little blog. We have been busy. We were gone for eight nights to travel to Arizona and around the state visiting: Meteor Crater, the Petrified Forest, Painted Desert, Winslow, a half day ‘cat 3’ raft trip, Sedona, a bit of gambling, the Grand Canyon, and Verde Valley train. Also visited Jerome and toured the museum. Something was planned each day. I really enjoyed it but learned that we really could have used more downtime in between activities. We drove over 2,000 miles. It is hard to sit that long. We got back home Friday evening and we have been doing laundry ever since...

We helped Sunil move Saturday and it was great to see everyone and come off the trip a bit. Had dinner with Martha, Robin and friends and after that I was a new person. :)

I got back from hockey practice about an hour ago and I am hurting! I missed practice last Sunday so I missed our normal skating drills and now more puck handling, namely passing and a bit of shooting. I could really tell that the inactivity of the last week took a toll on me today. There were a few times tonight I felt that I might throw up, I was so pushed to my limit. Until today I felt that each Sunday I was making progress. I so didn’t feel that way today, I was frustrated and even embarrassed but I kept up. The coaches are so cool. I so sucked today and yet sprinkled into the drills I heard this: “Good effort. Good try. Nice pass.” It keeps you going. It is so cool to see the progress of the other team members, some are very good and some are like me. The best thing is seeing how wide the grins are even though everyone is struggling to skate backwards or do a transition from forward to backward and then follow through on a pass. It’s hard. We fall a lot. Getting up is easier each time.

I am really looking forward to getting back to work and falling into some sort of normal routine. Life is good.
